Michelle,
Wow! Thank you taking the time to stop by and share such an enthusiastic comment! I so agree with you about medications and being told to accept health that is "good enough." I learned early in life that there is no substitute for SUPER HEALTH and that the path to SUPER HEALTH is through the stomach!

I want to encourage everyone to visit Michelle's beautifully healthy site, http://www.findyourbalancehealth.com/ where you will find a well written blog with beautiful photos of HEALTHY mouth watering food that is sure to make you hungry! And that's the idea -- we should be hungry for and craving beautiful healthy food, not junk!!! Go Michelle!

I love this post! So well put, exactly what I try to live and convey to others about health. So often I hear, "I'm pretty healthy, ever since my doctor put me on [insert medication here]" It's just not right that 'good enough' is the level of wellbeing we are told to accept. I love this post and the recipe and am going to tweet it right now!

Hi Christa!

What a great surprise to hear from you on this site! I would love to talk with you in detail sometime about the things you wrote above. Here and now I cannot diagnose or make personal suggestions pertinent to your situation. But I can make a few general comments.

It sounds as though you are on the right track with your diet and staying off medications (the latter with, I presume, the consent of your doctor; though that in and of itself can be a real challenge depending on your doctor's attitude and prejudices...) It is important to note that you are young and yet have a significant history of wellness challenges. What you do now can and will strongly influence your health for the rest of your life. Without resolving them they will only get worse and lead to other problems down the road. It is fortunate that you recognize the importance of resolving them and not just drugging them. Major toxicity and fatty liver are both strong possibilities here BUT for safety's sake in your case given the significant level of problems you face -- they require professional guidance; a good wholistic physician or qualified nutritional practitioner either of whom should have some formal education in detoxification. There are specific steps and precautions to take in detox that can be dangerous if not followed correctly.

So what CAN you do on your own? Stay on your present course; eat all the organic whole foods you can; avoid ALL sugar and ALL white flour and ALL processed foods; drink plenty of water -- a gallon per day is ideal; get some exercise consistently; address the stress issues in your life with meditation and relaxation -- this is important and HUGE -- do not disregard it; educate yourself -- read, read, read! Find a copy of a book called The Metabolic Typing Diet: http://www.amazon.com/Metabolic-Typing-Diet-Customize-Chemistry/dp/0767905644 This will help you understand which foods are best and which are problematic and dangerous for you, personally -- this too is HUGE. Then, check out the books on this list and begin educating yourself on healthy vs. unhealthy eating: http://www.foodrenegade.com/book-store/ I especially recommend the cookbook "Nourishing Traditions" which you will find there.

Please stay in touch and update us on your progress, Christa!

All our best,
Charles and Lorraine

Dear Charles and Lorraine,
Wow! I am with you on ALL of this! I have a lot of fatigue problems...have our four kids, age five and under, and my husband just deployed, so I know this contributes, but there must be more to the picture!
I am off all medications, and have been for at least six mos, eat as much organic food as possible (all organic fruits, veggies, not grains and meat, though! I want to, though!) Is it possible my liver is fatty? Probably! I could lose about 30 lbs. I WANT to eat things like this salad you posted, but, I have been allergic to many of these foods for years! Avocados, raw carrots, raw tomato, raw celery. Unfortunately, my Mom gave me all my vaccinations dutifully, and I even got flu ones up to three years ago! I was on SEVERAL medications at the same time from like my teens to only a few years ago. That was when I finally researched them and found that vaccinations and medications are so harmful! So, I believe my food allergies are maybe because of toxicity in my body? Well, I just had those questions and comments:) Have a wonderful day, my friends! Love, Christa
